Unsuccessful update attempt (N1148T-ON)

Hi,

in another post here in the community I asked for help to know which firmware I should use and I downloaded:

.Dell Networking N1100-ON Series, Firmware Version 6.8.0.1

I followed the procedure below and the result was this:

console#copy running-config startup-config
console#copy tftp://0.0.0.0/N1108EPONv6.8.0.1.stk backup
console#boot system backup
console#reload

What is going wrong?

After restarting again it returns to the current image.

Thanks.

Hello. The switch needs to be rebooted one more time since the current updated firmware is  not upgraded on backup partition. Please reboot the switch and follow the release notes for your upgrade. Hope this helps and wish you a good one.

Hi,

the procedure says to run (boot system backup) and (reload).

I restarted the first time and it showed this .

Then on the next reboot again (second) it went back to the version it was (6.6.3.8).

I did this a few times.

Any more guidance on what I can do? Trying to use an earlier version?

Thanks.

Hi,

I don't understand what you mean more than once?

Do I need to wait for the console to appear normally instead of pressing ?

The documentation says it can restart more than once.

I follow the update process through the console and it only appears on the console when I press .

Does that mean it will restart again?

Thanks.

SandroAlvesBR,

I noticed that you are jumping from the 6.6.3.8 version to the 6.8.0.1 version, have you attempted to run the 6.7.1.17 version yet?

If not, would you try and let us know if the results are the same?

If it is successful are you then able to run 6.8?

Let us know

Hi,

I have only one device.

I asked a previous question to know which version to use and I was recommended to use version 6.8.0.1.

If I look at versions older than 6.8 I see my 6.6.3.8.

But if I look at versions older than 6.7.1.17 I don't see my 6.6.3.8.

Is it a good risk on 6.7.1.17?

Wouldn't it be better to try going to a pre-6.8 one from the list to see if the behavior is the same?

Sandro,

Sorry, I didn't catch that previously. I would agree and try running on of the versions only a couple above the 6.6.3.8 one youre at currently, then see if walking the updates up allows you to get to current.
