The storage of PowerEdge R6515 Server is not shown in ESXI 8.0 client
We recently purchased PowerEdge R6515 Server, the server comes with 4 14TB hard drives. After installing the ESXI 8.0 to the server, we cannot see the hard drives in the storage page in the ESXi Host Client. The storage page only shows 95.25GB capacity.
We have done:
1. Checked the Integrated RAID controller 1: Dell PERC H730P Mini drive in the server system setup which is properly installed, and this controller drive is compatible with the server model.
2. Created virtual disk 0, RAID0 in the virtual disk management, the health is good, and status is ready.
However, we still cannot see the hard drive in the ESXi Host Client, any help will be much appreciated!
PowerEdge R6515
BIOS version: 2.5.5

Hello,
I think that what you are seeing in ESX is not the VD created in the PERC.
Please can you share some logs of ESXi?
For example esxcfg-volume -l
Thanks

The 95GB is most likely the automatic created datastore1 on your boot medium (your BOSS with 240GB) during installation of ESXi.
Can you show me the output of esxcfg-scsidevs -a. A PERC H730p is supportet under ESXi 8.0.2.

Joerg

Question: Do you have try to create a VMFS Datastore within ESXi? The additional datastores on your LUNS needs to be created by the "Admin" of the Host.

@DELL-Marco B Hi Marco, thanks for your reply. I have tried to use esxcfg-volume -l under root, but there is no output for this command..
Kind regards,
Elmer

@Origin3k Hi Joerg, thanks for your reply. Below is the output of esxcfg-scsidevs -a
I can see the two items in the list in the ESXi client host, but not the 4 hard drives that I configured..
I also tried to create the VMFS datastore within ESXi, but the only available datastore for me to select is the datastore1:
Kind regards,
Elmer

The output of the "esxcfg-scsidevs -a" shows clearly that there is no H730p recognized by ESXi. Thats why there is no LUN available.
If you run lspci -vv and try to grep for 730 or who ever the chip maker of the H730p.
I will see if i find a ESXi with H730 in our environment and which driver is used by ESXi.

Joerg
