Switch Configuration Star pattern

Hey guys,

I am very new to switch configuration and now have the task to configure our new Dell switch for our Management Network.

Network Layout:

Existing Switch: S3048-ON

New Switch: S3148

Since our existing switch is almost full and we need to connect more devices, to the Management Network the switch is serving, we ordered the new switch.

The idea was that we just plug it in into one of the free ports via a normal LAN cable (RJ45) and then in Port 1 of the new switch.

I got the basic configuration including setting the Management IP address for the new switch, but only via connection the MGMT port with a cable to the old switch.

When I try to connect the MGMT Port from the new Switch to one of the ports on the new switch I cant ping t anymore.

Seems like the "input" on Port 1 is not delivered to the other ports on the switch.

What do I need to configure that the switch runs like I described. I searched now for a long time but couldn't find any help.

Hello Alex9339,

I'll note we don't usually do initial configuration and configuration in an existing network brings more complexities.

We have Deployment Services you can contract if needed. If you contact Sales they could quote you if needed.

I will try to provide some information for you.

I would start with reviewing the Knowledge Articles we have:
