Stacking S4048-ON with S6010-ON
Hello ,
i would like to stack switch's model as follow S4048-ON with S6010-ON my questions is :
Is it possible ?
If yes how can i control te port # to be stacked ,for example on my S4048-ON i would like to use Forty 51,53 and on S6010-ON ports 29,31
if its its not possible , i intend to replace my 2xN4064F stacked network core swatch's with mention above switch
what would be the best practice for using them both as core , to just lacp 2x ports or any other suggested way ?
Please advice
Thanks

Hello @tbaror,
Stacking is most seen on N-Series with OS6 or with OS9. And thus, it is possible to create a stack for both the S4048-ON (it is has OS9) http://dell.to/3j2OsOP and the S6010-ON (also if it has OS9) http://dell.to/3j1boOi . But not together.
It is possible to have Mixed-mode Stacking on the S4048-ON: http://dell.to/3YlrJgS However, it is only possible with S4048 variants, as the S4048T. So stacking between them is not possible.
But please, be aware stacking technology was discontinued in favor of VLT. You can check OS10 architecture as they support VLT protocol and VRRP, so it might be you can use it as an alternative of stacking https://dell.to/2R6IVc7
I would suggest looking into the VLT options with OS10. The biggest advantage with VLT is the control and mgmt planes remain separate, and you can perform maintenance on each switch individually and reboot them in sequence.
Regards.
