For your Dell Switch the Dell SKU 407-BBOR is the right one. For every other combination you have to test it and you will on your own.

Dell will not tell you if you can stick stuff from a competitor in one of their products. Ask Cisco if there tranceiver will work in a non cisco switch. (waste of time.... you get it?)
What you will always loose is the funcationality to query transceiver stats/info even when connectify works.
Ages ago... they (Dell) told us for 1 and 10G foreign transceivers are not blocked by default. Thats changed with SFP28 and up.
Yes i have seen 1G HPE transceiver working in Dell swithes.

Hi,
I do not have any documented information of your exact setup that it can work. But looking only the S5224F, you would need to configure the switch port group to 10G-4x to be able to set the interface down to 1G. Here's an article on it: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-sg/000128222/dell-emc-networking-os10-s5200-s4148u-port-won-t-come-up-due-to-wrong-port-group-profile
Here's also an alternative reference guide: https://infohub.delltechnologies.com/sv-se/l/dell-emc-smartfabric-os10-switch-configuration-guide-for-vxrail/dell-emc-powerswitch-s5248f-on-port-groups/#:~:text=In%20the%20output%20above%2C%20interface,11%2012%20%2D%20(Output%20truncated)
Once the switch port group has been configured, you will be able to execute the command to set 1G speed to the interface.
I do not have any information on Cisco GLC-SX-MMD SFP compatibility if it could work.
