Serial connection to a Dell PowerConnect 3548 Switch
Hello all,
I'm trying to get access to a Dell 3548 switch through the serial port connection using putty but so far, no luck.
I'd like to use the switch to manage a CCTV network.
I have pressed the reset button for 10 seconds, which it's supposed to factory reset it and the default IP address is supposed to be 192.168.0.1 but I cannot access it.
According to the switch manual, the following are the parameters to connect to it:
1. Bits per second: 9600.
2. Data bits: 8.
3. Stop bits: 1.
4. Parity: None.
5. Flow Control: None.
I have the exact same values in putty but when I click Open, the following windows opens, but nothing happens:
I have pressed enter and left it alone for a couple minutes but nothing comes back.
I am in a VLAN with the 10.250.0.1 address if that helps in any way!
As you can probably tell, I'm kind of figuring it out as I go along. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

Hello Juan,
Do you have the serial cable connected to the Console port on the rear panel?
Have you tried a different cable?
Try changing the baud rate and check results.
Start with 115200 and work your way down to see if you can connect.
speeds: 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, 115200

@Dell -Charles R Hi Charles,
Thanks for taking the time to help! Much appreciated.
I do have it connected through the serial port at the back of the Switch to a usb to serial port adapter.
I have tried changing the baud rates but still putty's prompt just stays blank.
Unfortunately it's the only cable I have available at the moment. I suspect it works as it was still in its packaging.
I've checked the Device Manager as well and the laptop seems to recognize the usb adapter with no problems.

@Dell-ErmanO Hi! Thanks for the suggestion.
I've tried KiTTY but I'm getting the exact same result.
Prompts just won't do anything! I can't type and nothing would show up on-screen.

I'm having the same problem with a Dell N1548P switch configured on a stack. I have been trying to access the master switch but to no avail. Can connect every other Dell switch that is not configured as a stack. @Hooancho, please help to solve this.
