S5048F-ON -OS9 --IPv6

Just to call out i have already posted my issue in the Powerstore Community -- as

OS9.. IPv6 configuration..
i'm looking to enable ipv6 on an svi , using a link local address (is that an option)

i see the option to add static address in the deployment guide

You are correct in OS10 its as simple as 'ipv6 enable' on the port (which is the default setting for physical ports that arent switchported) and it will have an IPV6 link-local address.

 

On OS9 though - you have to configure an IPV6 GLOBAL address on an interface (physical or vlan/svi) and the act of doing so causes the switch to generate its own link-local address for the interface

The only OS9 autoconfig that can occur without a global address is on interfaces in the management VRF.

 

In short, in OS9, you cannot just run "ipv6 enable" instead you have to manual assign IPV6 on that interface VLAN
