private vlan design

Hi

I m planning deployment of private vlan on my network but i m a bit confused.

I have a primary vlan 200

community vlan 201

isolated vlan 202

i have bunches of switch powerconnected 5548 that are interconnected through 2 force10 S4048-ON.

i have my workstation on switch SW1 and SW2

and my server on swtich SW3.

I want that all my server sees the workstation but none of the workstation sees each other.

in order to achieved that i guess i should put all the port on SW1 and SW2 on isolated vlan and the uplink

of both switch in prosmiscuous port.

But in this configuration does the workstation on SW1 will see the workstation of SW2.?

indeed the traffic from one switch to the other one will pass through a prosmiscous port.

Am i doing a mistake?

Hi @EricDoutreleau,

Private vLAN that spans on two switches should be involving Trunking.

Hi @EricDoutreleau,

I don't think it's a mistake, it sounds about right. Though, I'm not from the deployment background, I'm unable to provide you how to configure according to your requirements. I found a general post by a user: https://dell.to/3l0kBrt which might be useful to your question. He seems to be configuring from common simplified topology and then move on to introduce more other VLANs.

That depends on your switch configuration, hence you might want to look into the URL above.

Hi Joey

Thanks for the link but it s of no use for me.

I m exactly in the situation of the end of this article.
and it works well.

The question is now

how can i configure a private vlan that will span on two switches. that are connected through an L2/L3 switches ?

I didin't find anything about that in the dell documentation.
