OS10 VLT question (mix of multi and single homed devices).

Greetings,

apologies for a potentially "dumb" question -- trying to obtain a better understanding of VLT and its use cases.   I have a pair of Z9432F-ON switches.  The goal is to migrate a number of (end-point) devices off cisco hardware to these new switches.   many of the devices are single-homed and others are multi-homed.

with VLT, multi-homed devices makes perfect sense:  create the VLT domain (the two Z9432F-ON  switches become "one"), terminate the multi-homed devices on each switch.

however, for the single-homed devices, with VLT, if i connect a single-homed device to, say, port 1/1/4 on one of the switches -- am i unable to use port 1/1/4 (for a different single-homed device) on the peer switch due to VLT? I cant seem to find documentation that describes this scenario.

is VLT still the preferred method here or would a "old school" stack (i realize that OS10 does not support actual stacking) style of connectivity be preferred with just a "traditional" trunk between the two Z9432F-ON devices and then terminate end devices wherever i choose -- being mindful of STP loops.

thanks and i welcome any constructive criticism here.  better to ask questions ahead of time during design phase.

Hello "Dell-Young E",

thanks for your response -- unfortunately it does not help answer my question.   I have already reviewed and read all of those resources on VLT.  I was hoping to hear feedback, opinions and experiences from other users who have experience with VLT in similar design or environment that I described in my original post.

thanks again for your reply though -- i'll keep an eye on this thread for more responses.
