Need help identifying unknown connection to wifi Delta Electronics
Hello
I was conducting some due diligence on wifi security and noticed a couple of 'unknown' connections both through my modem/router and Glasswire Firewall software. One is identified by Glasswire as - Gaming console, Delta Electronics. I looked up the mac address and it confirms that is a Delta Electronic device but does not tell me what it is. My guess is that it is something to do with a cooling fan in the computer, an XPS 8940.
Other than this i have no idea what it could be. I have checked and cannot account for ever installing this or giving it access to my wifi.
Any ideas? Appreciated

Thanks Ron. I think you provided a good solution. I really appreciate your help. All three PCs do show the device with its IP address on my wifi network. I also hunted down almost every device listed on the network identified by Glasswire and my modem/.router. . The device shows up on all three PCs and also on the modem/router.
Glasswire reports only a tiny bit of traffic - just a few bytes. I have been tracking down the MAC addresses and discovered a couple of thermostats and a wifi light switch I forgot. (Good learning expereince), I did think of changing the WIFI name and password or using MAC blocking on the modem.router.,
I will check out the Glasswire forum, thats a great suggestion. I came here to Dell first as I thought that this was a Dell feature.. Anyway a good mystery and as I said a good learning experience for me
Thanks So much

Delta Electronics makes power supplies for PCs, amongst other things.
What if you set Glasswire to ask for permission to allow that Delta device to connect to your network, deny permission, and see if something "breaks"?

Glasswire is installed on three individual computers not the modem/router so ''Ask to connect'' option on glasswire would only prevent applications from that computer connecting to internet. Is that correct? I just purchased Glasswire a week ago so i am not familiar with all of its features. But i suppose i could block it on the router.
thanks very much for helping!

Do all 3 PCs show that same device on the network or only the XPS 8940? FWIW, Delta does make some routers, so maybe that's one that you're seeing
Never used GlassWire, but it apparently has an "Ask to connect" option that might stop the device from connecting...
Guess you could block the device on the router, if it's software has that kind of option, and then see what happens.
Maybe this question would get a better response if you post it on the GlassWire forum. When I searched their forum for "unknown device" there are a bunch of threads on this topic. First thing recommended over there is to change the WiFi password on all your known devices.

Mac adresses are meaningless and can be spoofed.
So can Ip addresses.
IP address range and what ports are used can be NSLOOKUP checked and Tracert should show the path back to that address etc.

@viking49 Guess glasswire and your gadgets know more about your WiFi network than you do!
Glad you got it sorted...
