N3000E-ON Serie firmware, why two branches?

Hi,

I was wondering the technical explanation why there is two branches for N3000E-ON serie firmware. Both 6.6 and 6.7 branches seems to be actively developed since new updates for both are being posted every month or so. I searched for info on Dell Support site but did not find any answer.

I used a single N3048EP-ON on my home lab, should I use on over the other?

Thank You

Hi,

Great question, it isn’t really explained anywhere. If you only have N3000E’s and no legacy switches use 6.7.x the older 6.6 path is for cross generational stacking and is only receiving bug fixes and not new features. Let us know if you have any other questions.
