MAC Address aging time issue

I am having an issue with the mac address aging time.

I have the mac address aging time set to 1800 secs, but when i look at some of the device tracking inactive devices it is showing mac addresses/ip addresses in there for way past the 1800 seconds.

Would the aging time for the mac address timer not clear the mac address out of the mac address table at the same time clearing that out of the ip device tracking database?  I mean we have a handful of N3248PXE-ON switches in our environment now and it was working until we updated to the newest version.  Now we have some on 6.7.1.21 and some new switches that came in on 6.8.1.0.

Any ideas as to why this is not clearing?

Thanks

Cathy Jo

Hello Cathy_Jo,

I think this is what you are looking for:

Dynamic MAC address entries for which no frames have been received within the aging period are removed out of the MAC address table. The administrator can globally configure the MAC address aging timer.

console(config)#mac address-table aging-time 1800

Hello @Dell -Charles R

I have actually already used that command.  The problem is, I don't think anything is working.  Is this something i just need to put in a ticket for?  Shouldn't it be dropping the mac addresses out of the mac address table and subsequently the ip address table?

thanks
