issues logging into GUI of PowerConnect 2716

We have a PowerConnect we're trying to log into, but it doesn't seem to load correctly. It has gone unused for several years, so reset it to its factory settings. I can access the web GUI, but it takes a long time to load and doesn't look correct (see screenshot below). I try to log in and it has no response. It doesn't give an error, doesn't change the screen, and doesn't even reload the page. I am connected to the switch directly with no other devices connected to the switch or the computer, so I'm at a bit of a loss here. any help would be greatly appreciated!login screenlogin screen

Murakamin,

Would you confirm if you can connect via the CLI, or does it also present issues? If you are able to reach the cli, what I would suggest you start with is updating the switch, as that may help with the GUI. Another thing to confirm is if this occurs on different browsers as well.

Let me know what you see.

Hi Chris!

Thanks for the quick response. Im fairly new to networking at this level and haven't had to connect via the CLI before. With this switch in particular, it doesn't appear to have any serial ports and none of the RJ45 jacks are labeled as console ports. What would be the best way to go about connecting via CLI?

Hi @murakamin,

I checked in the user guide, it seems it doesn't have any serial connection.

I had a look at the screenshot, it seems like it's in MFG mode, but I've not seen this before. I can't find any documentation leading to MFG mode.

Can I know how did you do the reset? Have you tried resetting it again? Have you tried other browser? How about another client device to access the GUI, do you get the same result?

sorry for the delayed response, its been busy this week.

I may not have fully reset it looking back now. I was having trouble finding instructions for factory resetting. I had tried switching modes back and forth and holding the mode button for 30 seconds, which appeared to have reset the switch, but it may have just been a reboot and not a full reset. I have also tried multiple browsers, both chrome and windows edge, both with the same results.

Did you ever get the switch updated, as I think this may be the cause of the issue?

I'm having difficulty finding instructions for updating the switch without accessing the GUI. Is there a way to update without logging into the switch?

So holding down the button for 3 seconds will restore the switch to factory defaults, so holding for 30 seconds definetly reset the switch, but I am curious if it is in managed or unmanaged. Would you confirm if you are seeing a green light for managed, or no?

Also, there is the chance that the switch is failed, so just something to be aware of the possibility, as it is an older switch.

the green light for managed mode is on. We honestly don't need this to be a managed switch, so if it is in fact just not working, it's not the end of the world. Although would there be any reason to believe that the switch may have issues in unmanaged mode? As far as I can tell, in unmanaged mode it still operated correctly.
