Intel 10GbE 2P X710 Adapter on R730xd server

Hello,

I have inserted an X710 adapter, it shows on idrac the nic, but the system is not listing the nic on the system. It only shows the integrated nics on lspci.

Idrac Version: 2.83.83.83

Bios Version: 2.16.0

SO: Centos 7

The lspci exit only showing the integrated nics is bellow.

# lspci -nn | grep -i eth
01:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Broadcom Inc. and subsidiaries NetXtreme BCM5720 2-port Gigabit Ethernet PCIe [14e4:165f]
01:00.1 Ethernet controller [0200]: Broadcom Inc. and subsidiaries NetXtreme BCM5720 2-port Gigabit Ethernet PCIe [14e4:165f]
02:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Broadcom Inc. and subsidiaries NetXtreme BCM5720 2-port Gigabit Ethernet PCIe [14e4:165f]
02:00.1 Ethernet controller [0200]: Broadcom Inc. and subsidiaries NetXtreme BCM5720 2-port Gigabit Ethernet PCIe [14e4:165f]

What should I do to make them apear to the SO?

Regards,

arisjr

Arisjr,

Just to eliminate compatibility as a variable, woutd you confirm the specific part number of the X710 card? That way I can verify if it was intended to be used on the platform.

Let me know what you see.

Hi @DELL-Chris H ,

I can't tell right now because the idrac 8 does not show this information. What I can say at this moment is that the NIC was removed from a r740xd server and inserted on this r730xd server.

As soon I get near the server, that must be tomorrow morning, I will open the server and check the NIC part number.

Arisjr,

That card is indeed supported on the R730xd, as well as the R740 too. What I would look into is if the server is up to date on BIOS, iDrac, perc, and lastly the nic, afterwards let me know what you see.

@DELL-Chris H

I have done the steps as recommended, BIOS, IDRAC, Perc, but on the NIC update, idracs says that was "Unable to complete the firmware update operation because the specified firmware image is for a component that is not in the target system inventory."

The update file: Network_Firmware_YP4R0_WN64_19.5.12_A00.EXE

arisjr,

Based on the OS installed, have you tried one of the other versions of the download?

I tried the linux version, and the same result come out:

# ./Network_Firmware_YP4R0_LN_19.5.12_A00.BIN
Collecting inventory...
.
Running validation...

This Update Package is not compatible with your system configuration.

Hello,

can you try to peform the upgrade using a support live image?

https://dell.to/3YP9uAH

just to exclude an OS compatibility issue.

Thanks
