Dell X1000 2.5GBit compatible

Hi all,

I got a Dell X1052 Switch and want to know whether I can use 2.5 GBit RJ-45 SFPs with 2.5 GBit speed.

I did some research and searched in the data sheets but did not found anything.

I believe it's not because 2.5GBit bandwidth isn't supported by the switch.

Anyone who can verify this?

Thank you and regards

Jan

The X1052 switch has SFP+ ports that support up to 10GbE speeds, but they do not support 10G-Base-T SFPs.

Hello,

A 2.5 Gb SFP is not a standard specification commonly available in the market.

We have not qualified a 2.5 Gb SFP for the X1000 series switches.

The most commonly used 1G optic is 1 GbE optic SFP-1G-SX with Dell part number #GF76J.

We also have SFP 1000Base-T, 1GbE (SFP to RJ45) with part number# XTY28.

For the X1052 SFP+ type switches we have 10G ports for which the most common is SFP+ SR optic is part number #WTRD1.

Hello Charles,

thanks for your response.

I know that 2.5 Gbit SFPs are no official Dell Parts and that they are not qualified. The question was more whether the switch could run an SFP port on 2.5 Gbit, i.e. by setting the bandwidth of an 10G SFP manually down (but I think the Dell SFPs do not support other bandwidths).

@jan. + maybe the second questions: Are there 10G-Base-T compatible SFPs for the X1052/are 10G-BaseT SFPs working?

Thanks and kind regards

Jan
