Dell VLT OS9 with 2 S4048 questions
Hello All,
I am in the process of potentially setting up 2 S4048 in VLT configuration. There are a few questions that I cant seem to find in any guides from Dell or forums. Any clarification on this would be greatly appreciated.
1. Will non-VLT ports (ports not configured in a port channel) data traverse across the VLTi nterconnect? I will have some switches configured with LAG connected to the S4048's and I will also have servers connected that will not have port channel or any LAG configured.
2. follow up to the second question, would it be easier to just trunk the two S4048 switches together with two 40G links aggregated if LAG is not the goal for the servers/anything connecting to the switches? redundant links its the more important part of this configuration.
Here is an example of what I am referring to for VLTexample
This next example is for question two, which is to no assign any LAG or port channeling

Hi @superspace56,
Spoke to one of the network experts in support, and he mentioned for the queries of:
1. Yes. Non-VLT ports (ophans) traffic will be carried along in the VLTi connections.
2. It would be easier, but VLTi will have better redundancy.
