Dell Switch S50-01-G48T-AC - FTOS Upgrade
Hello,
I purchased this switch used to run my home network with some extras. I know it's strange, but I fell in love with this switch so far.
But I don't know if I can upgrade the switch to a newer FTOS Version. It's not SFTOS I think, but you can correct me if I'm wrong, I'm fairly new to these types of switches.
#show os-version
RELEASE IMAGE INFORMATION :

Platform Version Size ReleaseTime
S-Series: SB 8.4.2.5 17255784 Sep 9 2011 13:29:30
TARGET IMAGE INFORMATION :
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Type Version Target checksum
runtime 8.4.2.5 Control Processor passed
As you can see, installed is Version 8.4.2.5, and I would like to upgrade to a 9.x, reason is the SSH Server and the old CBC ciphers.
I don't think it's a simple "apt update && apt upgrade", but when I have to install the Firmware from a TFTP Server, which version could I use for this switch? The Download Page for it didn't give me an option for a firmware.
Best regards
Spelter

T.Spelter,
It does look like 8.4.2.7 is the latest available version for the S50 switch, as I am not seeing anything beyond that listed.
Let me know if this helps.

Thx, it looks like it. Sad that it was not updated to a higher version. The ciphers are really no fun, but I would say, if somebody gets a foot into my LAN, I have a different problem. And with a disabled password login, there shouldn't be a big problem.
I guess there is not Readme, Changelog or a PDF for 8.4.2.7 online anymore.

The upgrade was successful and pretty painless, as long as you have a TFTP Server.
Best manual I found is for 8.4.2.6
