DELL S5248F-ON

Hi

We have a DELL S5248F-ON running O/S 10 Enterprise.

I’m new to DELL switches and for some testing I am using a DELL SFP-1G-T to directly connect my laptop to the switch using ethernet.

The switchport configuration is as follows:

interface ethernet1/1/6

 no shutdown

 switchport access vlan 10

 mtu 1500

 flowcontrol receive off

 flowcontrol transmit off

 spanning-tree port type edge

However, I can’t get the port to come up (it’s currently in an up, down state). I can see that the switch is ok with the SFP.

Please can anyone offer any advice?

thanks

Ah right thank you. The below is the current set up. I'll give that a try

Hello,

When you try to bring the port online, what feedback is the switch giving you?

Hi, The interface shows as up, down. The switch understands the sfp ok with no issues. There is no feedback saying that there is an issue. However I've noticed that port groups are used and the only available speeds to choose for the interfaces are 25Gb or 10Gb. Does the switch support 1Gbps connections ?

Hello, to connect the 1Gb laptop, the interface must be changed from its native speed of 25 GbE to 10 GbE using the port-group command. The switch auto-negotiates to 1GbE when the laptop is connected.

To verify, can you post the show port-group output command?

Thanks
