Dell S4048-ON SNMP Configuration Not Working

We have two stacked Dell S4048-ON switches running the following OS & Firmware versions:

Dell EMC Real Time Operating System Software
Dell EMC Operating System Version: 2.0
Dell EMC Application Software Version: 9.14(2.10)
System Type: S4048-ON

On both these switches we have the following SNMP configuration:

snmp-server community hellohello ro
snmp-server vrf management

Despite no restrictions as to what IP address can perform SNMP queries, any snmp query to any interface on either of the switches just times out.

Is there something else I need to configure?

Regards,

Ian

Also, Dell switch management vlan and IP address range is different to vlan and ip address of server performing the snmp query.

ActiveTreeServices,

Since you have the snmp server on a different vlan, I would start with making sure that they can actually ping each other. You may also want to confirm that you set the version of snmp depending on what snmp server software you use. Afterwards could you check the logs to see if there are errors, and make sure it is configured correctly, based on page 872 here. Lastly, you may need to get into wireshark traces to see where the packets are dropping.

Let me know what you see.

I can ping from both sides and can access the switch via SSH no problem.

When I do a show snmp it returns the following

ActiveTreeServices_0-1660708808476.png

Wireshark simply shows no response from the switch, as though the switch is not even listening for SNMP requests.

The SNMP version is 2c.

I have a sneeking suspsicion my problem has to do with command:

snmp-server vrf management

The manual provides an explanation for the above command but I still don't know what it does.

Hi, Dell switches have 1.default VRF 2.Non-VRF  3. Management VRF. According to that command the SNMP queries passes through Management VRF instead of default or non-default VRF.
