Dell OS6 VXLAN support on N3200 Switches
Hi all,
in the N3200 speecsheet*, vxlan support is described as the following:
"VXLAN support in hardware only ².
² Can be used if enabled by ON partner network operating system"
What does it mean ("in hardware only")?
Is a partner-device with vxlan support according to RFC7348 a ON partner?
We would like to connect VXLAN TEPs between OS10 (S5200 datacenterswitches) and OS6 (N3200 accessswitches) and routers.
Regards

Hello mffhg,
Referencing the spec sheet, it appears "in hardware" refers to the ASIC ability to support VXLAN functionality and that the hardware will support VXLAN in the N3200 platform on an OS that supports VXLAN.
The N3200 series (specifically N3248TE) is able to run OS10, which supports VXLAN

There is no convention for VTEPs on the switch in OS6. OS6 does not support VXLAN.

Hello mffhg,
Which N3200 series switch do you have?
The spec sheet is pretty broad .
This document may help you. It does indicate it will not work on N3248TE-ON

We have OS6 and OS10 switches.
OS6 with version 6.7.0.4:
N2248X-ON
N3248X-ON
N3248PXE-ON
OS10 with version 10.5.2.6:
S5224F-ON
S5248F-ON
We dont understand whats meant with the quoted part of the spec sheet.
Can we use VXLAN with our OS10 switches or is it only available for OS10 ?
We would like to build a vxlan network between all of the mentioned switches.
