The Dell N1524 switch does not support the CARP (Common Address Redundancy Protocol) protocol. CARP is a protocol used for implementing automatic failover and redundancy in network setups, typically used in conjunction with virtual IP addresses. The N1524 switch supports a variety of other protocols, including STP, RSTP, MSTP, and VRRP, which can be used to provide some level of network redundancy and failover. However, if CARP is a requirement for your specific use case, you may need to look into other switch options that support this protocol.

But, if the N1524 supports VRRP and, CARP is practically a VRRP, why doesn't this switch support CARP traffic?

Searching the Internet I couldn't find anything about it. Nowadays many use pfsense as a firewall appliance and use it also in HA mode.

How does Dell not have anything about this?
