Dell 3048

Greetings. 

I have experience in general configuration of dell switches but this is the first time I'm doing this. We have a fiber ring we are implementing and have two redundant feeds coming into the same switch.

Now I know this can lead to loops which is obviously a problem but in my google searches, I'm running into issues in finding a solution. I'm looking for a "standby" solution in that port 1 is active and being used as the main feed with port 2 being in standby mode and listening for port 1 to go inactive. When that happens, port 2 goes active and takes the traffic.

I'm assuming it has something to do with spanning tree but not quite sure? Any assistance is appreciated!
