Clarification on S5296F-ON - show system output
Hello
Silly questions but I have to ask.
Is ONIE version below referring to the firmware version?
Is Software version, referring to the ONIE software?
Could I do a firmware update without an OS update?

Digital Optical Monitoring : disable
System Location LED : off
Required Type : S5296F
Current Type : S5296F

System CPLD : 0.6
Slave CPLD 1 : 1.0
Slave CPLD 2 : 1.0
Slave CPLD 3 : 1.0

Thank you

Igano,
To answer your questions:
1. ONIE version is showing the version for the ONIE Install Enviroment Bootloader
2. Software version is referring to the Version of OS10 you're using
3. You can do a firmware update without an OS update. It was the older switches where they were linked.
Let me know if this helps, or if you have any other questions I could help with.

It is a boot process of sorts, but I haven't seen an update for it before.

No software version and firmware version are different. Software version refers to operating system which is 10.5.3.6 and runs on the switch while firmware version is the software that controls the hardware components. Such as BIOS, ONIE, FPGA, BMC, CPLD versions. But you can see that it is sometimes used in the same sense depending on the context among the people.

Thank you Erman.
Updating the firmware on S5296F switch means updating (BIOS, ONIE, FPGA, BMC, CPLD). All of them.
