1000BASE-T SFP's in an S5224F-ON

I have a couple of S5224F-ON switches, and a box load of 1Gbps SFP's, but i cant seem to make them work.

A show int clearly shows the switch can see the SFP's, but i havent been able to get the connected servers to get an up link to them. The literature for the S5224F-ON lists it can run its ports at 25G and 10G, but it doesnt specifically mention 1G. I know the speed for ports has to be set through the port-group, but when i try to do that, it only lists 25g-4x and 10g-4x. There is no 1g option.

Show interface output:

PER1-SWI-01# show interface ethernet 1/1/24

Output 0 Mbits/sec, 0 packets/sec, 0% of line rate

Here you can see when trying to configure the port group, it only shows 25g and 10g:

PER1-SWI-01(conf-pg-1/1/6)# show configuration
!
port-group 1/1/6
mode Eth 25g-4x
PER1-SWI-01(conf-pg-1/1/6)# mode eth
25g-4x Breakout to 4 25G interfaces
10g-4x Breakout to 4 10G interfaces

The SFP is a Dell SFP-1G-T-WP, which does list the S5224F-ON as being compatible.

What am i missing?

Thanks

Hi, as you stated, 1G is not specifically mentioned. https://dell.to/40uKija

Take a look at the port groups here https://dell.to/42DgjYi;

and you can check this thread "The switch auto-negotiates to 1GbE when the laptop is connected." Solved: DELL S5248F-ON - Dell Community

Thankyou. Yes have confirmed that setting the port to 10G does let it work at 1G.

Thanks

Hi Erman,

Does 25GbE port on S52xx auto-negotiate/auto-sense with a 10GbE device connection? If it is then can we use a mixed-speed connection within the same port-group?

Thanks,

Hi, I researched but I couldn't find information about that. As I know auto-negotiation is not available on 10G fiber or higher speeds ports and the S5224F-ON does not support mixed-speed connections within the same port-group.
But I'm not sure if there is a way to do it somehow. Let's see how the community will contribute.
