Build your own personal Dell Enterprise SONiC network

Hi folks,

Are you interested to learn about SONiC networking but don’t have access to a rack full of physical switches ?

Dell have you covered !! by releasing virtualized appliances, capable of running the Dell Enterprise SONiC network operating system. Dell have always promoted Open Networking, and the GNS3 bundle empowers customers to import network appliances into their GNS3 topologies.

The attached guide will outline the steps required when building a GNS3 solution on a bare-metal Ubuntu server using a local GNS3 Management GUI

The appliance can be downloaded by SONiC customers after logging in to the Dell support site

Kind Regards,

-Barry

I would like to download GNS SONiC to try out some architectures in a digital twin before trying them in production, but the image is not available for my account. The page says "Your account permissions do not allow access to the content".  I do have a corporate account with a black tick mark over the account and our company has several tens of SONiC subscriptions on accompanied switches. So where should I ask entitlement for the GNS images?

Hi perttu,

When you purchase PowerSwitch platforms with Dell Enterprise SONiC, the network operating system and its associated files should be available for download from the Dell support site.  The GNS3 files are listed per OS release and are available as an individual download, separate from the production flavors of SONiC (as below).

Perhaps you may need to reach out to your support group to confirm the SONiC purchase is associated with the appropriate customer account

Kind Regards,

Barry

Thanks for the answer but we've access only to Dell Digital Locker where from we download the production images and the GNS edition is not there (also the view there is limited to the edition we've acquired). Maybe that view is only for employees and specific partners and not for generic customers.
