WINDOWS AND RAW PARTITION
Hi everyone , I have networker 9.1 and wserver 2012 with two raw partitions(4 TB each one) for a video surveillance system.
I tried to configure the client according the Administration Guide page 328 but the workflow was aborted for timeout everytime.¿Any idea? Thanks in advance

You have used the command you would need to run from the command line as backup command for the client resource. This is not correct. However, for the client resource,
1. Activate the "diagnostic view". Otherwise you will not see all parameters.
2. Define your raw disk in the save set list, for example "\\.\D:" or "\\.\Physicaldrive1"
3. Then switch off VSS by adding "VSS:*=off" in the "Save operations" edit field (Apps & Modules tab)
4. Leave the backup command empty.
If possible, may I suggest that you add a small raw disk for test purposes before you start a 4TB backup?

No - as it obviously impossible to to split a raw partition. And I just hope that you backup to disk.

@bingo.1 Hey bingo, thanks a millon for your quick answer, your indications do the job.
I tried on a 1GB partition from a testserver and it works!!!
Any advice as best practices for biggest partitions like 4TB (RAW)?

Just want to mention the alternative that you can have all backups on disk and just clone the monthly ones to tape.
