Hi
I have now done this and seems to have been successful.
Hi Agracci,
Those are not NMM related services although they could play some role in the backup process, specially EMC VSS provider.
Anyway, can you please check that the service "Replication Manager Client for RMAgentPS" is started, and with log on account "Local System".
There is a chance that either Replication Manager or PowerSnap were not installed correctly. Can you please double check that in Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs?
Also, was there any previous version of Replication Manager or PowerSnap installed on that client?
Thank you.
Carlos.
Hi Agracci,
Despite this threat has been treated in several posts before, please see below the answer:
The main issue here is that Replication Manager Exchange interface couldn't start because of the credentials.
please open services.msc, scroll down to Replication Manager Exchange interface, right clock on it and go to Log On tab.
Please select a user name and password with the following permissions:
Exchange Organization member
Domain Administrator
Local Administrator
Also check in the DCOM components this same service, and please select the same credentials.
Then try to manually start up the service.
If it starts then stop it (This service has to be in manual mode) and run a backup.
Thank you.
Carlos.

Hi boerbokrib
Quick question, do you intend to backup active or passive DB's?
Can you please change the following variable accordingly?:
NSR_EXCH2010_BACKUP=preferred
Also, can you please try by changing the following variable to a value of "TRUE"?
NSR_EXCH_INCL_SA=TRUE
Thank you,
Carlos

Hi boerbokrib,
can u check snapshot created in the windows ?
1. command prompt
2 .diskshadow
3. list shadows all
4 .delete shadows all
Open my computer right click select "configure shadows copies"
On each server disk select and configure maximum size setting no limit.
down networker services.
net stop nsrexecd /y
rename temporary networker (C:\program files\Emc networker/nsr/tmp to tmp.old).
up services
net start nsrexecd
net start nsrpsd

Hi,
As noted in earlier posts, can you please make the following changes and let us know the results?:
NSR_EXCH2010_BACKUP=passive
Also, can you please change the following variable to a value of "TRUE"?
NSR_EXCH_INCL_SA=TRUE
Please let us know the outcome of these changes.
Thank you,
Carlos

Hi boerbokrib
Maybe I didn't express myself correctly. What I meant is for you to set the correct value, if you are going to backup active or passive, so I wanted you to change that value accordingly (either passive or active).
so please set the value passive, if you want to backup the passive DB's, or set to active if you prefer to backup the active DB's.
Thank you,
Carlos

Hi Carlos
just would like to confirm
in earlier post you requested as below.
Carlos Rojas (to Update FirstName Mc naughton) 6 days ago
Hi boerbokrib
Quick question, do you intend to backup active or passive DB's?
Can you please change the following variable accordingly?:
NSR_EXCH2010_BACKUP=preferred
Also, can you please try by changing the following variable to a value of "TRUE"?
NSR_EXCH_INCL_SA=TRUE
Thank you,

I made changes as follows.
Hi
as per original posting attachment my settings are as follows
NSR_SNAP_TYPE=vss
CIRCULAR_PROMOTION_POLICY=Promote
NSR_FEDERATED_BACKUP=yes
NSR_FEDERATED_PSOL=alsex3,ALSEX4

NSR_EXCH2010_BACKUP=preferred
NSR_EXCH_CHECK=no
NSR_CHECK_JET_ERRORS= NONE
with me changing to NSR_EXCH_INCL_SA=True
I have also changed this setting
NSR_ALT_PATH=E:\SNAPS
So now you would like me to change
NSR_EXCH2010_BACKUP=Passive

Hi boerbokrib
This is either a configuration issue or name resolution problem.
Please ensure that all nodes of the DAG can resolve NW server's name and vice versa.
If using DNS make sure you can run forward and reverse lookups.
Make sure the group is added to the media pool, so please open pool properties and in the advanced tab make sure the group is selected.
Also, if using Data Domain and Client Direct option, make sure the nodes can resolve the name of the DD box and vice versa.
Can you please check the file called "servers" under /nsr/res folder in the nodes, and comment any name that might appear there? After that please stop NW services (including Replication Manager AgentPS and Replication Manager Exchange Interface), rename the /nsr/tmp folder in the nodes and start services again, except for Replication Manager Exchange Interface, as that is a manual service and will be started during the backup operation.
Thank you,
Carlos

Hi Sorry
I had set it to preferred as per documentation on page 75. I have reread it and think I now understand what you are saying. So have set it to active and will rerun and revert back to you.

Hi
Carlos
I have done a disk-shadow delete i have check the forward and reverse lookup. I have commented out the alsdnw.ialch.co.za entry in the servers file.
I have checked the pool properties and added the group under data source.
I have renamed the tmp file and stopped and started services. i have also done forward and reverse lookup for the data domain.
I am now getting a success and failure. as per attachment.
what does this mean?
95937:nsrsnap_vss_save:A slave job failure has been identified, stopping all slave jobsnsrsnap_vss_save: Exchange federated ..Updated saveset response with hresult 0x54f.

There is only one mailbox on this server for testing before goes live and rest of mailboxes are transferred across. Could this cause an issue?
I have now changed it to passive and will see what happens.
