Update 19.2.0.1 to 19.2.1.1

Hello,

Wanting to update Windows_X64 Networker Server 19.2.0.1 to 19.2.1.1.  Reading NetWorker 19.2 Updating Guide, little confused if I need to uninstall Networker first, then re-install.

The document talks about Updating 9.X

When you update from a version of the NetWorker software that shares the same service pack number as the newer software version, first remove the older version of the NetWorker software. Once removed, install the new version of the NetWorker Server software.

For example:

When you want to update a NetWorker host from NetWorker 9.1 (9.1.0.0) to cumulative hotfix version 9.1.0.6.
When you want to update a NetWorker host from cumulative hotfix version 9.1.0.1 to 9.1.0.6.

A little later in the document it mentions : "You can use the NetWorker-19.2.exe to update the NetWorker server software without first removing the previous version of the software."

Not sure how to proceed. For an incremental update 19.2.0.1 to 19.2.1.1 uninstalling seems bit much.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Joe

This is the result when the tech writers are not trained in the product or/and if they know how it works, don not dare to correct the concept/the supervisors or managers.

As so often, an upgrade is nothing else but

  -  removing the current software ... leaving the essential databases behind

  -  installing the new software and automatically updating the databases, if necessary.

On NW for Linux, you do not have a choice. You have to follow this way. Manually.

On Windows, it is exactly the same. The only difference is that you can initiate the update which runs both steps in the proper sequence. So an upgrade is all you need to do.
