Ultra160 vs Ultra320 SCSI Performance

I recently moved my Networker server to fresh hardware running Windows 2003 Server x64, and changed my SCSI controller for the ML6000 LTO3 tape library from a dual channel Adaptec Ultra160 to an Ultra320. I was told that LTO3 write performance maxes out at around 320 so I should see significantly better write performance with the new controller. The fact is, I'm still seeing the same 20-22MB/sec write performance staging and cloning save sets that I was seeing with the old controller.

Am I missing some other configuration change or am I getting all the speed I can get?

I am sure you should get better speed while backing up. You can still fine tune using parallelism etc. Also, block size for LTO-3 should be larger than that for LTO-2 for better performance.

As far as staging and cloning are concerned, they would happen within the box. I am not sure if parallelism or SCSI controller would have a big role in this.

It depends what is slowest factor in the chain when you get 22MB/s. U160 would give you more so I doubt that was an issue (and obviously it is not as you could see after change).
