Tape Backup is failing after 70 GB of backup

I have an IBM tape library connected to the networker. When I start the backup and it will take the 70 GB and then the tape is showing full. I tried with other new tapes, same problem. Any body have same kind of issue faced before???

Hello,

as so often a little beef on the bone would help - in other words: key information is just missing.

70GB on a single tape seems to be a lot - depending on your tape drive type ... which only you know. Of course the tape will be set to full if the end-of-tape (EOT) will be reached. So this alone is not surprising. The question is why the backup does not continue with another tape?

Is this a new installation or did it store more data on tape before? - This might be important to know. BTW - which NW version and OS do you use?

Do you have Auto Media Management (AMM) enabled for the jukebox?

I was mistaken - i thought of 70TB, not GB. Sorry for the confusion.

Anyway - if the backup stops after this small amount of data ... and obviously always at the same object (file) it seems as if there is something wrong with the client's file system. The daemon.raw file should tell you more.

However, there are several methods to verify this:

  -  You may want to exclude the save set object from the backup to see what will happen

  -  You may want to backup another client and verify the progress/result

  -  You may want to create a huge backup of a single file using the "bigasm" method This will create a save set with the size of your choice and produce the data from RAM. Please see the Admin Guide and Command Line Reference for details.

Let's see what you will find out and proceed from there.
