Restore NDMP backup to non NDMP device
Hi,
I am trying to restore NDMP backup taken with Networker 19.4 to a Windows Disk but I cannot select the destination device.
Is there any possible way to use Networker backup and restore to transfer data from NDMP to non-NDMP device?
Thanks for your help

NDMP data transfers are usually only possible between NDMP devices. However, your wish may become true if the NDMP Backup has been sent to a 'pseudo' NDMP device using NetWorker's DSA method. From the nsrndmp_clone command reference:
If the save set to be cloned was backed up by nsrndmp_save via nsrdsa_save (i.e. the
save set’s flags have ’N’ and ’s’), then use nsrclone to clone these save sets; they are
cloned to any NetWorker storage device other than an NDMP tape device. Cloning
from a non-NDMP tape device to an NDMP tape device, and vice-versa, is not supported.
See mminfo(1m) for more details on the ’N’ and ’s’ save set flags.

I tried your advice but it didn't work. I also set the flag M which forces to use nsrndsa_save and created a new dedicated NDMP device. I was able to backup but restore to a non NDMP device still not supported

First to get some terminology correct. With non-ndmp device, you mean restoring ndmp NAS backup data towards a non-NAS system?
Normally I'd regard a ndmp device as the backup device used, not the NAS device that the data resides on.
So as you state restoring to a windows drive, I assume you want to restore backups made using the ndmp protocol to a completely different system, that doesn't use the ndmp protocol? And you call that the non-ndmp device?

Hi barry_beckers
my question was if I can use the Networker Backup & Restore for this purpose.
I do have data on a NAS Share which is getting backup by Networker using NDMP and I would need to have the same data available on a vmdk disk for testing purposes
