Recover virtual server from tape fails with "not valid for recovery"

Hi,

when I try to recover a virtual machine or just a drive from that machine from a tape i will always get this error:

nsrvproxy_recover: Virtual machine recovery failed: Requested clone 1601547126 of Saveset 4151462536 is not valid for recovery.

The requested saveset is on the tape with a expired retention time and status 'recyclable'.

Where is the problem?

I am not sure but AFAIR this solution only works with DDBoost disk devices. So I guess you backup to a DDBoost device/media and then clone the save set to tape.

When you recover you can only do this from disk. So you must to re-clone the save set to a disk media first.

Don't know which NW version you have, but there should be an option to specify a staging pool on either datadomain or aftd device as direct restore from tape is not possible.

An NMC based restore should show that option.

How did you initiate the restore? Via cli or otherwise?

really? trying to plug a completely unrelated data recovery product you have no benefit from whatsoever in this case? That is your way to try to make some extra buck on the side?

common... spam at best.
