NetWorker Volume Move does not fully fupport NetWorker 19.6.x

I am currently dealing with this relatively new utility which can be used to transfer ddboost volumes to another NW data zone. It currently is available as version 1.2 which has been released in 11/2021.

The User Guide clearly states that it does support

  -  for the source NW server versions 8.2.4.14, 18.1 and later

  -  for the target NW server versions 19.4 & 19.5

Of course, as NW 19.6 had not been released at that point in time, it is not explicitly listed yet. However, I tried NW 19.6.x on both, the source and the target server.

 

Now, there is a built-in utility within nsrmigrate which checks the installed version of the NW server. And it clearly states, that 19.6 is not yet allowed to run on the target server.

For example, if you run nsrmigrate -l on the target server, this option will work. That does not really surprise as the same command is already supported on the source NW server it it runs 19.6..

However, if you run nsrmigrate -a on the target server, this will not work. You will receive these clear messages:

Unable to obtain the NetWorker server information

Nsrmigrate Analyze failed.

 

I just wanted to inform you about this behavior - it is enough if one admin runs into trouble
