NetWorker - Disaster recovery backup of the critical volumes failed.

Hello,

I have problem after Windows update with make backup of Windows server. In Event Viewer is this error:

System

  - Provider

     [ Name] NetWorker
  - EventID 1

     [ Qualifiers] 16384
     Level 2
     Task 1
     Keywords 0x80000000000000

- TimeCreated

  EventRecordID 51002
  Channel Application
  Computer SSNOWLEA.leasing.local
  Security

- EventData

Disaster recovery backup of the critical volumes failed.

On the Legato server is this error in log:

[root@sleglea backup_1191331_logs]# cat 1191334.log
181407:save: Step (1 of 5) for PID-3104: Save has been started on the client 'ssnowlea.leasing.local'.
174412:save: Step (2 of 5) for PID-3104: Running the backup on the client 'ssnowlea.leasing.local' for the save set 'pseudo_saveset'.
95087:save: Cannot back up the DISASTER RECOVERY save set because the initialization of VSS did not succeed.

176571:save: Step (3 of 5) for PID-3104: Unable to complete the backup of the disaster recovery save sets. See the savegrp log to track the closure steps of the backup.
176572:save: Error occurred during the backup of the disaster recovery save sets.

It seems to be related to VSS, but I'm not sure.

Any ideas?

Thanks

as you did not state any OS/NW version numbers, you should first check, whether you have a compatible combination installed at all.

Next check the status of the VSS writers with "vssadmin list writers". Verify that all are listed and o.k.

If not you will find lots of information in the internet on how to cure it. It is not straight forward as it depends again on the OS version and the versions of the installed applications.

The easiest reset method: reboot the client, if you can.
