Networker and Data Domain's interface group

I am facing trouble setting up backup from Networker vProxy to DataDomain over interface group.

Having ifgroup defined in DD with x.x.x.10 and x.x.x.11 IPs included, configured DD device in NW using x.x.x.10.

And it works well (eg it balances load and fails over among 2 ifgroup interfaces) as long as x.x.x.10 is up while backup starts. I believe the problem is that NW/vproxy should contact DD via some IP other interface independent of ifgroup when it starts backup, in order to obtain ifgroup IP configuration.

Then direct BOOST data over to these DD IPs. I have other management IP on that DD, but do not know how to direct NW to contact DD over management IP when starting job, then to send BOOST data to ifgroup?

If I understood what you are trying to do correctly, what you are trying to do in unconventional and might need an unconventional way of setting up things. The nsrmmd assignment is done by the nsrsnmd and once a nsrmmd is selected then the client binary will try to connect to the DD directly with the information it has received from the nsrmmd. So you could make a hostfile entry for the same hostname on the NW server with the Management IP and on the vProxy with ifgroup IP address.

Thank you.

I have taken hosts file edition into consideration, yes.

If I understand things well, the condition for this to work would be that it is Networker server, which queries DD for ifgroups configuration, passes this info over to vProxy, and then vProxy connects to ifgroups via boost protocol.

Also would argue if this is really unconventional approach, not to ask for ifgroup configuration using this ifgroup's interface, but over some other resilent link.

Which seems not to be the case. Having IP redirection in hosts file for DD addresses, Networker starts a backup, contacts DD, but then vproxy persistently tries to connect to only one port of ifgroup (which is down for a purpose of HA testing) as if it was unaware of another IP in this ifgroup.

Moving this thread to the Data Domain community space might yield you a more accurate answer.
