Networker Administration
good morning everyone
I have an EMC Networker V8.2.1.0 for my backups.
I had a configuration problem and I have a question about how to activate when the backup cartridge is full change to an empty cartridge in the libraries, what steps to follow would be to activate it?

If the installation is o.k., NW - by default - will
- eject a cartridge which has been filled
- continue the backup or clone process of another appendable cartridge of the same pool.
If such is not available and with the option 'Auto Media Management' enabled, NW will
- as his first choice, touch a new cartridge (one that has never been written to). The purpose is to leave the written tapes untouched as long as possible for maximum data security.
- as his next choice, he will re-use a recyclable media of the same pool.
- as his last choice, he will use a recyclable media of another pool (only if the options 'recycle from/to other pools have been set appropriately).
If NW cannot proceed automatically, you will notice an appropriate alert (Waiting for another writable media of pool ...) . However, the origin of this problem is not clear yet:
- It could be that the configuration as (been) changed for whatever reason.
- A new media is not available in the jukebox.
- The option 'Auto Media Management' has been disabled.
- A simple hardware/communication problem between NW and the jukebox has occurred.
- Or something I did not mention so far.
If the tape is not in use you can of course set it to 'full' at any time (usually via the nsrmm command (nsrmm -o full volume). But this alone might not help.
So to be able to help you, we must also know a little bit about your environment and the exact problem.

Wow - do you know that you work with a version which is at least 5 years old and is not supported any longer? - However, it should still work if you have not upgraded your other environment (like OS etc).
I am not sure what your real concern is: Does NW not change the tape at all once it is full or are you asking why it will never touch a new/another tape? - In the first case I expect a (lost) configuration and/or hardware error while the second case 'only' points to a config problem. But to be more helpful, we need some more information.

Thank you very much for answering my question
And so it is I know that we work with an outdated tool, but it is what we have hahaha.
And so it is I explain
Previously when a cartridge was in the process of backup and marked full automatically took an empty cartridge and continued with the backup of the same volume, but for some time now no longer does, I do not know if this helps to specify the problem but I appreciate it very much that I continue helping me
How to mark full on a cartridge in a continuous backup process with an empty one?

Thank you very much for your help
It was corrected with the "Auto Media Management" hopefully with this the solution will be definitive.
thank you very much for your support
