Because the completion status is missing, the origin could be anything. Most likely the connection dropped (temporarily) for whatever reason and/or the NW processes at the client stopped.
BTW - as NW 9.x is pretty old, may I suggest that you upgrade your environment asap.

You might wish to open a separate thread for this separated question. Anyway, most likely your group is tied to pool in pool properties... you wish to create new storage location, new pool and label it to new pool (you do this via devices) and then in pool properties you can control dependencies. You use old version which at the time had different GUI I think as well so most people won't remember the procedure.

So 2.5 years later, apparently nothing really came of the "i will upgrade as soon as possible"? NW9.1.1 had an EOSS of Dec 31st 2019 and extended support until July 31st 2020. So not ancient but still way, way over its due date. Hence I assume you don't even have any support from Dell at all? Or still for another more recent environment? As no support, often also means limited availability to online resources and KB articles?
You gotta also help us a bit to help you, by even saying what the other disk device would even be? Also a data domain? Did you actually look in the nw9.1 admin guide or the data domain integration guide to get an idea of how things are to be done, creating devices and pools and what not?
Even a recent nw19.7 (online) guide might give you some idea as still nw9 looks and feels way more similar to nw19 then it did to nw8 after nw9 introduced the policy based engine? https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/networker/nw_p_nwadmin/backup-target?guid=guid-4d15a3a7-af2d-46be-98c1-85ebc9112e1c&lang=en-us and for DD integration https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/networker/nw_p_ddboostdedup_integration/configuring-dd-boost-devices-with-the-nmc-device-configuration-wizard?guid=guid-1d5c0a0a-2912-4ca6-acb3-31bb18ca9a9b&lang=en-us
