Lost index files and ability to browse the save sets past a certain date

Networker Indexes.pngHello.

We are using Networker 8.1 sp3

Last week we tried to perform a restore on one of our hosts and noticed we could no longer browse past the last two weeks. I verify the index files on the Admin console and noticed that all the indexes were wiped from a period of time as shown in the pic above. It looks like we lost the last 6 years of indexes. Can these be restored?

I tried to perform a scanner -I function to restore the indexes from tapes but it doesn't seem to do anything.

If the data/the save sets are still available, there should be no problem to restore the backups.

However, the prior restoration of the CFI with "scanner -i" can also create a massive time loss.

IMHO it is better and easier to restore the whole save set to a temp directory and get the files you want from there.

Check if you have an index backup for the said backup period for the respective client. If you do then a simple nsrck -L7 -t date can get back your index files.

If your data resides on tape then as bingo mentioned running scanner -i is very time consuming and you are better off recovering the entire saveset.
