Issue with Daily Backup Not Running – Dell Data Protection Central
Dear Dell Support Team,
We are currently using Dell Data Protection Central (DPC) integrated with Data Protection Advisor in our environment. However, we are facing an issue where daily backups are not running as expected.
From our observations:
- The Asset Inventory shows that the last successful backups were completed on February 2024, and no recent backups have been executed since then.
- The dashboard indicates 0% success rate with no active or completed jobs in the last 24 hours.
Additionally, when attempting to generate reports, we receive an Error 500, with the following message:
"The system cannot find the file specified: C:\Program Files\EMC\DPA\services\shared\report-results\temp*.xml"
We would like your assistance with the following:
- Why are the scheduled daily backups not running or being triggered?
- Could the Error 500 related to missing report files be impacting backup visibility or job execution?
- What steps should we take to verify backup schedules, services, and job configurations?
- Are there specific services, logs, or components (e.g., DPA services, backup agents, or storage targets) we should check to troubleshoot this issue?
- Could this be related to licensing, connectivity, or service failures?
We have attached screenshots of the dashboard, error message, and asset inventory for your reference.
Kindly advise on the necessary troubleshooting steps and resolution.

Data Protection Central and Data Protection Advisor help you monitor your backups and backup infrastructure.
*** Neither of them actually perform the backups. ***
It could be that your backups are not taking place, but it could also be that backups are happening but DPC and DPA are just not aware of it. There could be many scenarios/reasons for what you are seeing
Your first step should be looking at what your backup software is doing (or not doing). Leave your concerns about the backup monitoring/reporting software like DPC and DPA for later.
