UP3218K, no boot when connected via two DisplayPort cables
I am having a problem when I boot my computer with my UP3218K monitor connected via two displayport cables at 60Hz. If I unplug one cable, it will boot just fine at 30Hz. I then can plug in the second cable and it will switch to 60Hz. But anytime I restart/boot with BOTH cables connected it freezes. I can see a Q-Code error 97 (Console Output devices connect) as the step it freezes.
- I have tried multiple cables - no luck.
- I have verified the BIOS is current
- I have verified the firmware on the GPU is current
- I have installed the current drivers for windows, NVidia drivers, and Dell drivers
System specs:
Asus ROG Maximus Z890 Motherboard (BIOS 1603)
Intel Core Ultra 9 285K Processor
NVIDIA RTX 4090 GPU (Studio Driver 572.83)
Windows 11 Pro 24H2 26100.3775
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

* What is the build date on that UP3218K rear label?
* What is the warranty status? Enter the private UP3218K Service Tag here
* Was this UP3218K used successfully with two DP cables on a previous PC? If yes, does the UP3218K still work on that previous PC using two DP cables?

@DELL-Chris M
Build date is Sept 2024
I entered the service tag at the link that you sent. Prosupport is active until 12/11/27
I have not tried on a previous PC. This was bought with a new PC

Once past the BIOS/Post and into Windows OS, you connect the second DP to DP cable to the Nvidia RTX 4090. Then in the Nvidia Control Panel and Windows Displays settings you can set the UP3218K to 8K 7680x4320.
Do you see in the Menu--> Energy Settings as shown on page 21 in the online UP3218K User's Guide?

I changed the OSD to disable, but still the same issue. Machine will freeze during start up (Q-Code error 97). I tried changing the DP settings from 1.4 to 1.2. This allowed me to start up, but in 1.2 it looks at the UP3218 at two monitors (with both DP cables plugged in) with no apparent way to change to 8K.

Change the DP settings back to DP 1.4. Then boot with only one DP cable attached. Once into Windows, connect the second DP cable. Then can you change to 8K 7680x4320?
If that works, then we know that the UP3218K is functional. As to why from a restart/boot the fail happens is unknown. Not having a second PC to test/replicate the issue on make it complicated to know which is actually at faulty, the UP3218K or the current PC pre-windows boot up.

I was able to verify that the display works fine. I used a different machine and everything booted as expected @ 8K. Do you have any reccomendation on next steps? I'm leaning towards BIOS settings, but am confused as to why it would boot 8K@30Hz but not 8K@60hz. It appears based on the Asus Q-Code that it would be prior to Windows loading. But any guidance would be appreciated

Are you using a riser cable for the video card?
