U4025QW, firmware M3T104, jumps volume to 100%
Hi I just updated my Dell U4025QW monitor to latest firmware M3T104. However now when I try and lower volume in Windows 11 it just stays for 2-3 sec then it jumps up to 100% all the time. I have tried to restart my laptop and screen no luck.
If I change audio device to my laptop everything works as expected. Only when I use the DELL U4025QW (2- HD Audio Driver For Display Audio) this is happening.
Is something wrong with the latest firmware M3T104 ?

@YardJunky That isn't the case for me on the U4025QW monitor. The issue appears regardless of how I change the volume.
It's definitely something that should be looked into with DDPM

Same on my U4015QW :(
Really annoying and embarrassing on a premium device like this.
Fix it - finally!

@Soo Meng
Dell will be sending me a "refurbished" replacement monitor, they expected me to perform the firmware update once I receive the replacement.
A refurbished replacement should already have the latest available firmware. Prior to installing a firmware, check the Menu- Others to see the installed firmware version.

I have this issue too, right after the update on July 8.
Yesterday I was on the phone for around 45mins to Dell, after the fixes didn't work they decided to action a full replacement.
I've since asked that they don't as I still think this is a software/firmware issue, not a hardware issue, and replacing a $2.5k AUD monitor under warranty seems a bit drastic.
Unfortunately I need DDPM for the KVM between my laptop and PC.
Is there any workaround in the meantime, whilst we wait for Dell to fix this insanely frustrating bug?

I had just received my replacement monitor. The monitor comes with M3T103 firmware, and I updated the firmware to M3T104 with no surprise. Updated as per instructed successfully.
I went on to install the DDPM version 2.1.0.23. It installed successfully too. Noticed that the volume hasn't change before and after the installation DDPM.
Regarding the sound volume jumping to 100%, this is what I had experienced,
After the jump-scare, I didn't touch my keyboard function key again.
I think there are 2 issues here.
My previous monitor was at M3T102 and it cannot be updated to M3T103 or M3T104. For some unknown reason, this new replacement monitor was able to update firmware with my same laptop. I'm sure it is my previous monitor issue responsible here.
I think it is mainly the compatibility between DDPM, U4025QW and maybe even with my Logitech keyboard. Please share if you guys experienced the jump in volume, were you using external keyboards like me or directly from the sound panel?
I will attempt to adjust my volume via sound panel and my keyboard later today. Will keep you guys posted on my tests.

@Soo Meng Hey, I'm running a Logitech G915 and use the media keys for sound, have exactly the same issues as you describe.
I've tried rolling back to the previous version, didn't seem to work, then unpluged and replugged in the USB connections, seemed to be OK.
Then updated again as I thought it was fixed... and the issue is back.
I'll try rolling back to the previous version and unplugging and replugging in the USB cables, to see if it works again.
My work laptop is on a few versions older, connected via Thunderbolt, does not have this issue at all.

Rolled back to version 2.1.0.20, still have the same issue
For an expensive monitor, this is very poor form

OK, I've uninstalled DDPM 2.1.0.20, restarted my PC and installed DDPM 2.0.2.11.
So far, seems to not have the volume issue. Monitor panel is still showng as speaker off and no more volume spikes.
If anything changes I'll report back.

Update on my new replacement monitor.
I installed DDPM version 2.1.0.23 immediately after receiving my monitor. These are my issues which I am facing.
Upon starting the applications, the volume remains at the last set level.
Once I made adjustments to the volume via my external keyboard or via the sound panel, the volume jumps to 100%. I have to bring it down to the desired level repeatedly for about 3 times before it stops acting up and remain at the desire level.
The issue happened again once I adjust the volume again and repeatedly bringing it down many times over.
After setting the Easy Arrange, the "Yellow and Blue" borders which indicates the set layout, I dragged the windows to the desired borders. It just snapped somewhere off centre of the screen, leaving a "gap" between the right edge and the windows. Refer to the image below.
These are the issues which I am facing now. Still have no solutions yet.

@DELL-Chris M I have tested DDPM 2.1.0.23 on M3T104 U4025QW.
Everything works fine immediately after installation until you try to adjust the sound level. The volume will reach 100% in under 3 seconds. Setting audio level via OSD will change Windows volume to the same level and then to 100% a moment later. DDPM changes both the monitor and Windows volume to 100%. Setting the volume to 0% in OS works. It will not jump to 100% from 0%. Setting the volume to 0% in OSD does not work, as it will jump to 100%.
Interesting result achieved by setting system volume to 0% and then OSD level to 40%. I've got Windows volume increased to 40% (not to 100%), but the sound is muted at the same time:
If I change the volume (system or OSD) to anything else, it will jump to 100% on both again.
After DDPM is uninstalled (no reboot required), both OSD and Windows volumes can be controlled independently and correctly. I can set any volume level.
Please let me know when the DDPM "100% level" bug will be fixed.

@MikePfz
* Uninstall DDPM 2.1.0.23
* Restart the computer
* Install DDPM 2.1.0.20
* Restart the computer
* Retest. If same issue, do the same process and install 2.0.3.9

2.1.0.20 still has the same issues, but it resolved with 2.0.3.9.
Thank you!

Hi guys, this is what I had observed in my set up.
1st set up: Laptop connected to a single monitor set up with U4025QW.
Tested with adjustment of volume with both Sound Panel and external keyboard. Issue where the volume changes to 100% had stopped. No longer observed.
No gap was observed between the windows and the right edge of the monitor; it worked as per normal.
2nd set up: Laptop connected to Dell hub WD22TB4 and a dual monitor set up with U4025QW (Laptop directly to monitor via TB) and Lenovo Thinkvision T2424P (Laptop > WD22TB4 > T2424P via TB and HDMI).
Tested with adjustment of volume with both Sound Panel and external keyboard. Issue where the volume changes to 100% had returned. Issue persist.
Gap was observed between the windows and the right edge of the monitor; it didn’t work.
I think the DDPM is the issue here hence the difference in observations with the single and dual monitor setups which causes the volume change and easy arrange not snapping to the edge. As for the connectivity, there are still connectivity issues between my laptop and monitor and between my Wireless Receiver and monitor.
If you are facing the same issues, you can share what is your current setup, either with Laptop Monitor and U4025QW.

Hello everyone,,
I was having the same issue (with Dell U3824DW on DDPM 2.1.0.23 & firmware M2B103) so rolled back to 2.0.3.9 on my personal laptop (Dell, Win 11) and everything was fine.
I was able to control the volume.
But on my work laptop which is a Dell(Win 10) & came with an older version of DDPM preinstalled was having the same volume issue, I had no option to rollback (atleast without IT/admin support). But I could however update to newer versions myself. So I did update to DDPM 2.1.0.23 which did not resolve the issue..
However today morning I received new update (DDPM 2.1.0.24). Thinking that nothing could go wrong further than this, I updated.
I'm happy to confirm that audio seems to be fixed now & does not jump back to 100%. Hopefully the new update should work well on my personal device as well. I'll check later & post an update here.
