U3415W, no display

I was using my Dell U3415w monitor this morning when I saw the screen fade from right to left to a black screen.  The monitor is now unable to display anything, but you can see tha backlight come on.  I tried connecting multiple laptops to the HDMI port and the DP port but still only see a black screen.  The monitor menu will not display or is not visible.  I've tried unplugging all cables and power with no effect.  Even with only the power connected the monitor menu will not display, but you can see the backlight illuminate.  Is my monitor dead?  Thanks

Does the monitor display any of its menus with with the system disconnected?  If not, yes -- it's dead.

@DaveCz,

I have very good news. Replacing the T-CON board solved the problem!

The Dell U3415W requires the T-CON LG 6870C-0536A board. It's available on various sites, like eBay, but check locally first. I was lucky enough to buy one in my country for $16.
To replace the board, you need to completely disassemble the monitor. Here's an example of how to do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JapL5FafD4, but it requires a bit more disassembly. After replacing the board, be sure to test it before reassembling it.

I'm very disappointed with Dell (: This is the second Dell monitor I've had that has broken on its own. Before this, I had a Dell U3414W, and it developed leaks, which is an unresolvable screen issue. Since I didn't buy the monitor in another country, the service center didn't replace it. I was lucky that the retailer did.

I'm sure the company has data on breakdown causes and repairs over the years, but they don't specifically help people buy new monitors.

Nope. It will not display any system menus on the monitor.

Hi.
I had the same thing happen yesterday, on the same monitor.

According to information I found online, it's possible that a cable came loose or the T-CON board failed. If that's not confirmed, then the problem is with the display, which means it can't be fixed.

I'll try to disassemble it in a few days, visually inspect it, and check the cables. I can't test the board yet; I need to order a replacement from China.

Dell support isn't helping. They only give one answer: buy a new monitor. So let's try to find a solution together. If you find any information, please let me know.

It's very strange that both of us had this problem at almost the same time.

@DaveCz Some unknown internal component is faulty. Dell does not repair monitors so Dell cannot know which component.

I disassembled the monitor, reconnected the connectors, and checked the cables. Nothing helped. As suggested in various videos, I disconnected one cable from the T-CON board. The stripes disappeared, but the backlight remained, but the menu was still unreadable.
It's highly likely that the T-CON board is faulty. I've ordered the board and will be able to test it within a week.

It's difficult to diagnose without proper tools, so replacing the boards is the only option for now.

I found a couple of threads with this problem.

Congratulations! And thank you for sharing this information.  I'm going to take mine apart and give it a try!
