U3224KB, makes ticking sound when plugged in, but won't turn on

I've had my Dell U3224KB 6K for a couple of years. Today I tuned it off as I was cleaning my desk. When I went to turn it on it would not turn on, but I hear a clicking sound inside. I tried all kinds of trouble shooting with no positive result. The monitor is currently completely unattached from everything. With the power cord in I hear a clicking about every second. The clicking stops when the cord is unplugged. The power button will not get the display to turn on or turn on the On light. I'm assuming something inside is fried. Since the MSRP on this is currently $2500, is it worth spending the money to send it to Dell to fix? It had been working perfectly. I've also tried plugging into a different outlet and that did not help either. Thoughts?

If the monitor is in warranty, contact Dell to have it replaced (Dell does not repair monitors -- they are replaced if they fail under warranty).  These should have 3-year warranties on them.

If the monitor is out of warranty and you have a local repair shop capable of board level component repairs, it sounds like the mainboard or power supply board has failed -- it may be possible to have it repaired rather than replacing the monitor, which is the only other option.

@ejn63 Thanks for this.   I purchased my display as a Refurb from a 3rd party seller and was surprised to see it was sold with a "basic warranty" that still has an additional year of warranty (the Refurb came with a 3 year warranty when I looked up the "service tag" number online, which I was not aware of).   Dell is shipping me another Refurb to arrive in 2 days and I'll be shipping this broken one back in the box that arrives in, with Dell paying for shipping.  Luckily I still have the 14 year old Viewsonic in the interim as backup that I had purchased the Dell to replace.
