U3224KB, face recognition

Dell U3224KB

Dell U3224KB

I have my U3224KB monitor connected to a XPS 17 9720 Laptop. I want to be able to use the camera integrated into the U3224KB for Face Recognition. The camera in the laptop works for this purpose but I have it sitting to the side with the lid closed. I've tried to make the U3224KB camera work for the Windows Face Recognition to no avail. Can this be done?

Yes, the webcam on your U3224KB monitor supports Windows Hello.

1.  Make sure to connect your XPS to the monitor upstream port via USB-C or thunderbolt port.

2.  Make sure to enable the webcam and presence sensor function in the monitor settings.

3.  Setting up Windows Hello, see instructions on page 96 of the monitor User's Guide below

It is using the Thunderbolt configuration.  In going through the User Guide setup, the only things I have in Cameras is Integrated IR Webcam and Integrated Webcam. It does appear in Monitors section.

I know the camera works since I've used it on Zoom calls and I had no issues.  I just wanted to be able to use it for the Windows Hello face recognition.

I also have a Dell Docking Station with Thunderbolt ports.  I had connected the monitor directly to the laptop.  When I connected the monitor to one of the Tb4 ports on the Docking Station, the camera worked fine and the Windows Hello Face Recognition is operational.

Thanks!!
