U2723QE, U3824DW, KVM drops, must disconnect/reconnect power cable

I would say that 80% of the time that my Windows 10 computer shuts off or goes to sleep, the U2723QE KVM seems to be unable to "wake up" my keyboard and monitor.

Unplugging power and replugging power seems to resolve the issue.

Dell Support must verify the ownership and warranty status. Click the blue "Get Help Now" on the right to start a private live chat session. Share the private U2723QE Service Tag with them.

Those other threads were dealing with multiple PC and multiple U2723QE. In your case you have single U2723QE and single PC, correct?

What specific PC model?

Hello,
this is not exactly my setup.

I am currently using two dell monitors. A U2723QE and a U3824DW and I also have two computers attached to them.

I am using the KVM switch of the U2723QE to connect a mouse and keyboard to the two computers. The computers are an apple macbook and a custom built pc running windows 10.

The PC is connected by daisy chained display port to the two monitors and through USB-C to the mouse and keyboard.

The macbook is connected to the two dell monitors by two USB-C cables.

I hope this clarifies my setup.

"this is not exactly my setup."

I am confused. You listed two Dell monitors, etc. But you said this is NOT my setup?

The setup you were describing is not the one I am using.

The one I explained is what I am using.

List in detail your exact two PC setups. Like these examples.

@DELL-Chris M
As requested, here is a more detailed spec of the connections:

U2723QE Super speed USB 10Gpbs (USB 3.2 Gen2) > USB to mouse direct
U2723QE Super speed USB 10Gpbs (USB 3.2 Gen2) > USB to USB-C cable > keyboard
U2723QE DP out > DP to DP cable > U3824DW DP in

PC's USB-C > USB-C to USB-C cable > U2723QE USB-C upstream port
PC's Display port > DP to DP cable > U2723QE DP in

Macbook USB-C > USB-C to USB-C cable > U2723QE USB-C port
Macbook USB-C > USB-C to USB-C cable > U3824DW USB-C port

Macbook works fine.
Windows works fine until it goes to sleep. Then I need to disconnect and reconnect power to both screens for it to work again.

Open the U2723QE Menu- Input Source

What are you current selections for both Auto Select and Auto Select for USB-C?

Change Auto Select for USB-C to Off. Retest.

Are you running macOS Sequoia 15.3.1?

@DELL-Chris M this configuration change has resulted in the keyboard and mouse peripherals not being able to wake up a sleeping computer (both the macbook and windows pc) when swapping between them using the kvm switch.

@geo83514

Thanks for checking. So you have changed it back to this =

Auto Select --> On
Auto Select for USB-C --> Prompt for Multiple Inputs

Next thing to try would be to NOT use MST DP daisy chain and connect both the U2723QE and U3824DW to different video out ports.

Does the PC have multiple video out ports to test in above way?

Yes the ports are available, but it did not solve the issue either.

At this point, the only thing I can think of is getting a U2723QE exchange (if still under purchaed warranty) to see if the replacement U2723QE has the same issue.
