U2723QE, two on four computers, auto-switch issue

<That thread was from 2022. Started your own thread. DELL-Admin>

I have 2 of the U2723QE monitors shared by 3 computers on a 3-computer KVM. The right monitor is usually shared through the KVM via its HDMI port. But I have a 4th computer, which is not on the KVM and is cabled to the right monitor's DP port.

If I try to change the right monitor's input selection to its DP port without the 4th computer booted, the monitor immediately auto-switches back to the HDMI port on which there's always input signal available out of the KVM. If I try to manually switch the active input to the DP port and boot that 4th computer, the monitor will immediately auto-switch back to HDMI before Windows boots far enough to poll for connected monitors and show any output. But by the time that 4th box is ready to display input that the monitor can detect, that computer is already past trying to send any output to DP.

I've tried going into that monitor's own settings and flipping the "Auto Switch" mode to "Off" (text in blue). Same result as if the Auto Switch modes is on (text in white).

If I also connect an old monitor to that 4th computer via DVI and boot it with both DVI and DP connected, it will boot to the DVI and then I can use the monitor's input switch to change to DP and thereafter use both monitors until I shut it down. But I only want to have to leave the old monitor disconnected and leave the DP connection plugged in all the time.

I also have issues with my main laptop - plugged into the KVM as computer #1 failing to detect the displays when it's first booted unless I lift the laptop's lid and boot it first, and then close the lid after it's booted and I've signed in to it (Win11). It seems to be a Catch-22 that Win11 needs the monitor available at some early point in the boot to "see" them. But the monitors will not let me manually set the input to what will be needed after that machine is booted. That laptop also works the same if auto-switch is turned off in the monitors.

I otherwise really like the U2723QE's I bought when they're up and running properly. But the inability to get the monitors to let ME choose which input to use prior to booting the source that will connect to the monitor and not try to "helpfully" change that regardless of the auto-switch setting is very annoying. It should also be possible to manually set the Select Input to any port REGARDLESS of whether that port is currently receiving input if the Auto-Detect/Auto-Switch is disabled.

I paged through both monitors' settings and did not see where to display their current firmware version; so I cannot include that info in this message.

Thanks!
