U2719DC, firmware update utility M3T106 won't finish, #2

Hello,

Same problem as here. Running firmware M3T103.

Update screen flashes (MacOS 12.7.5. Apple Silicon) and instantly terminates. Tried on Intel silicon, didn't work either.

How to run this MonitorFirmwareUpdateUtility_U2719DC firmware upgrade?

Hello @DELL-Chris M ,

Thank you for the reply.

The reason for firmware upgrade is the possibility of charging  via USB-C while the monitor is off (these options are in U2721 too).

Understood, but why risk possibly breaking a working out of warranty monitor? You could leave it on to charge via USB-C and set a screensaver.

Thank you for your reply, @DELL-Chris M .

I completely understand the caution, and I do appreciate your concern regarding the risk of updating an out-of-warranty monitor.

The main reason I’m exploring this firmware update is that I’d like to keep my laptop charging via USB-C while the monitor is off, mainly to reduce power consumption. Unfortunately, on macOS, there's no built-in way to disable an extended display without physically disconnecting it — which would also stop the charging.

I have a U2721 monitor in the same setup (for another laptop), and it does support USB-C charging while the screen is off, which is incredibly convenient. I was hoping the U2719DC might support the same functionality with the latest firmware update (M3T106), which is why I'm trying to install it.

Let me know if there's any workaround or if you'd recommend an alternative way to achieve this setup. And of course, I’d still appreciate help getting the firmware tool to run, if possible.

Thanks again!
