U2515H, DisplayPort output for MST - what is it?
Context: been happy with my dual monitor setup for 10+ years. In my last post here, I was having issues with my beloved U2515Hs that turned out to be a laptop issue. So I retired and unretired and I moved one U2515H to the customer's location and one remains at the home office. So, I need another monitor. Done, nice Acer Nitro XV272U with two HDMI and one DisplayPort.
My question is certainly broad. I normally slap cables into the computer and panel and get to work. I have never daisy chained panels. I'm asking here because I know my U2515H is 10 yo. Over that time, all of the jargon has changed. So maybe someone here has some historical knowledge.
In fighting through my older panel issues, I came across this MST thing:
"DisplayPort output for MST (Multi-Stream Transport) capable monitor. DP 1.1 monitor can only be connected as the last monitor in the MST chain."
Can anyone fill in my ignorance as to how you would set something up like this? What I have read, it seems to me that all of the monitors must be MST capable.
Also in my searches, and I know I'm stretching the topic here, I came across this in the manual:
"HDMI (MHL) port connector Connect your MHL devices with MHL cable."
In all my years, I thought HDMI was HDMI. Is there any significance to MHL?
Appreciate any insights.

U2515H User's Guide
PC DP out --> DP to DP cable --> U2515H #5 DP in (Menu--> Display--> DP 1.2 Enable)
U2515H #7 DP out --> DP to DP cable --> Acer Nitro XV272U DP in
HDMI MHL = Mobile High-Definition Link. A standard for a mobile audio/video interface that allows the connection of smartphones, tablets, and other portable consumer electronics devices to the monitor.

MST is nice for modern laptops, you can plug in one USB C cable to your laptop and then chain other monitors off the first (using display port cables and the display port output).
The first monitor has to be fancy though, i.e have the appropriate laptop interface. Dell models that end with E would do probably this.
And if your desktop has display port at the appropriate standard, you can do similar.
