U2515H, connection issues moving to different locations
Dusting off the U2515H, connection issues and just insanity. I own 3 U2515H panels. The size is perfect for me, the resolution is perfect at 2560x1440. I know these items are old, but there is not a single dead pixel or any other issue with them. The monitors are simply perfect. However, these connection issues are driving me to the crazy bin.
I know I have good cables. The ones I used at one location, are the same ones I'm using now.
I know the monitors are good once they finally connect.
I have used these monitors for 10+ years with 3 different laptops or systems.
But for whatever reason, when I move them as in take them from a lab to home, from home back to a new office, they simply go berserk. HDMI won't work, Display port, mini DP, etc. This is with a system that was just using them.
This smells of some sort of embedded code in the device issue that for whatever reason makes the panels go stupid.
I've gone and am going through this forums for ideas.
Anybody got some hints to throw at me?

I fixed my problem (the display and cables are all fine). My clue was that when the monitor worked, it was connected to another machine. It turns out that my new Windows 11 laptop has two graphics chips in it (one is built into the AMD cpu an the other is a NVidea 4060. For whatever reason, both were set to disabled in Devices. As soon as I enabled the GPUs, the monitor instantly behaved.
So, problem solved. In case anyone else has this issue.

I have no idea what happened to my follow up post. These legendary panels are just that - legendary. They are the perfect size (for me), hi-res and just work.
The problem I had was I moved the panel and connected it to a different laptop. I did some research and learned that my GPUs were disabled. Weird, as I was using the laptop just fine. In any event, once I enabled the devices the panel is happy now.
Trouble shoot before posting :)

I have never heard of an "embedded code" that would cause this.
Prior to moving =
* Turn the U2515H off via the power button
* Disconnect all video, USB cables, USB dongles from the U2515H
* Disconnect the power cable last
At new location =
* Setup but do not connect anything to the U2515H
* Press and hold in the power button for 8 seconds
* First connect the power cable to the U2515H
* Connect the video cable, USB etc. to the U2515H
* Turn the U2515H on

@DELL-Chris M When I get back into the lab tomorrow, I'll give your process a shot. Based on what I have read, you've been around a long time. Honestly, it just seems weird to me that this particular panel does this. Yes, I know it's old, but seriously. This is a consumer level device. Who in God's good name worries about this? More on this below.
But let's play. Prior to moving, well of course that was done. The panel had to go into my vehicle. How is this even relevant as to why it would be important?
Second stage, some questions. I just want my panels to work, so this is not any sort of attack.
* Setup but do not connect anything to the U2515H
* Press and hold in the power button for 8 seconds
Why? Why would any user do this? Okay, I get we're dealing with the device, but what does holding the power button down do?
* First connect the power cable to the U2515H
* Connect the video cable, USB etc. to the U2515H
* Turn the U2515H on
I'm just intrigued at doing it in this order. Again, why? The panel is clearly looking for something, and you seem to know what it is. I'll test this tomorrow, but I'd really like to know the back story so I can avoid it in the future. The behavior of the panel seems very random and has since I bought the first one.
Thank you for the feedback.

How is this even relevant as to why it would be important?
* The first step is because users do not first turn the monitor off. While powered on they simply unplug the power cord.
* Press and hold in the power button for 8 seconds
Why? Why would any user do this? Okay, I get we're dealing with the device, but what does holding the power button down do?
* Clears any residual power in the circuits.
I'm just intrigued at doing it in this order. Again, why?
* Connecting the power cable first sends a signal to the internal components waking them up. Then connect video cabling.

Chris,
Okay, I follow that. I followed your list and no joy. One glaring thing that I forgot to mentation is that when I moved this panel from my home office, it was connected to a Windows 10 machine whereas it is now connected to a Windows 11 Pro machine.
In my home I was running in a dual panel configuration with the Windows 10 machine. On occasion, I would switch to another interface to dual screen with the laptop, so I don't think it is an OS issue. I suspect this one is just failing. They are quite old.
Thanks for your help.

@cgilley replying to myself. I think linearly. If I'm looking for my post, I scroll down. But if you mark a post as an answer - it goes to the top. face palm.

@DavidBowie I'm confused, what does this have to do with a monitor?
