U2415, USB-A charging MacBook
Hi - I have a ten year old (2015) monitor U2415b. I bought a new USB to USBc connector (to my MacBook). In my office I have a brand new Dell monitor and the USB cable also charges the laptop. At home with the old monitor, it does not charge. I wanted to know if this is possible or if the charging capability is something that only came in later.
With only 2 USB ports I am not able to have everything in that I need (monitor cable, charger, and connector for keyboard/mouse). I have tried using the adaptor but the monitor does not work using that, nor can it be used to charge.
If the old monitors can't charge the laptops, is there a USB splitter that would work? I am conscious that my current adaptor doesn't do it.
Thanks,
Richard

The 2015 U2415 USB-A downstream ports were not designed to charge any laptop. They max to 12w/2amp. They can slow charge a cell phone.

* What new Dell monitor model?
